Michigan, Upper Peninsula.

June 2025, we rolled over to Michigan's Upper Peninsula to hike the famous Mosquito/Chapel Falls Loop at Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, explore Mackinac Island, and eat some delicious food!
While driving across Michigan we noticed Pasties seemed to be a local favorite, so our first night in Munising we enjoyed some beef and gravy & apple pie pasties at the scenic outlook.

The next morning we made our way over to the trailhead to venture on our main hike of the trip. The cliff views along Pictured Rocks were gorgeous!
Mosquito Falls and Chapel Falls via Chapel Loop
*Difficulty: Easy. Distance: 11 miles. Elevation gain: 750 ft. Time: 4.5 hrs.

After our hike, we meandered our way over to Grand Marais and had pesto grilled cheese & delicious Lake Superior Whitefish meals at Grand Marais Tavern. The fresh fish right out of the lake was some of the best we've ever had!
We spent a night in St. Ignace in preparation for our Mackinac island adventure the following day. The pickle pizza from BC Pizza was fantastic & the caramel shake from Molly Moo's was scrumptious!
After the half-hour ferry ride under the Mackinac bridge & across Lake Michigan, we arrived on Mackinac island. The homes and hotels scattered across the island were charming and well kept. We grabbed a caramel cold brew coffee, explored the downtown, walked the outer loop around the island, admired Arch Rock, and swooped some fudge on our way off the island :)

We spent our final night of the trip in Marquette, breathing in the fresh lake air and enjoying our final round of tasty Lake Superior Whitefish :)
